History of Russian unofficial RAGE fan club “The Missing Link”

All was started in 1999 when Cyril “Rick” Dobriansky (Moscow) began to create his first websites. At that time he almost had no material about one of his favorites in music - the metal band RAGE from Germany. All that could be available at that time in Russia for the usual fan was only on tares because the Internet was in the beginning of its way in this country. To get some content for the website about rock band was necessary to scan the lyrics and album covers.
But one day after placing new version of the site Cyril has discovered another web page dedicated to RAGE, located at the address rage.da.ru. This site was more informative and Cyril decided to close his RAGE website.
As time went on, Cyril get the RAGE album "Ghosts" in which booklet Cyril found the name "Smolskiy". Deciding to learn more, he wrote a letter to the rage.da.ru owner because he didn't have other RAGE fans in sight. As an answer, Cyril received a letter in which the owner of  rage.da.ru said, that he don’t like this band anymore and his site will never be updated again. So, in that year Cyril was the only fan of RAGE in the Russian Internet.

Situation has changed after the first Moscow concert RAGE (may 2000). Outside the concert hall Cyril decided to develop this site at all cost. The owner of rage.da.ru allowed to take everything from his website. Is was a good new beginning. Since 5 may 2000, the work on the site began again and the 6th of May the website was opened. Cyril put a lot of MP3 files on the site, and it was an attraction for initial audience. This was the first stage of Russian RAGE unofficial fan-club development.

During the first three months the site was updated daily and soon became filled with all sorts of information about the band RAGE. Also on the website was opened the guestbook, which become a basic Internet community for Russian RAGE fans in 2000-2001. The first visitors shared their ideas of site development, gave advices to Cyril, participated in content creation and founded active communication field.
In late 2001, two things happened: one good, the other bad. The bad one: the site was placed on the server free hosting provider and this company has decided to move service on a fee basis. Have any choice: either to move or to pay. For an unemployed student Cyril buying hosting was not a good option.
But also the good thing occur. With Cyril contacted Paul "Wild Seed" Shaptsev and supposed to rearrange website to official Russian RAGE fan club. So, site was moved to paid hosting and got a new name: www.rage-online.ru. The second stage of fan-club history has begun.

After changing the status fan-club get the name - "Love And Fear Unite". This idea came from Paul Shaptsev. At the same time Paul began to establish contacts with RAGE. Victor Smolski response quickly and confirmed the existence of the site as an official Russian RAGE fan-club.
Thus began the formation of modern Russian community of RAGE fans. After some time fan-club get another version of design, the new forum machine. The peak of popularity came in 2010.

In the spring of 2010 was decided to transfer the official fan-club RAGE to another website located at the address http://www.rage-on.ru. In connection with this Cyril’s website remains nameless again. For finding  the new name were directed all forces of Russian RAGE fans and in March of 2011 a new name was selected - "The Missing Link". Along with the new name on the website was updated design. Now “The Missing Link” continues through creative activities.
Now “The Missing Link” unofficial Russian RAGE fan-club is the most active RAGE-dedicated website in the Russian Internet. Here permanently discussing everything related to the band RAGE, actual news appearing regularly, developing RAGE lyrics translations (to Russian), and active communication is going on and on.

Paul Shaptsev offered to get a name "Love And Fear Unite" for the renewed fan-club. At the same time Paul began to establish contacts with RAGE members. Victor Smolski responded quickly and confirmed the status of the site as an official Russian RAGE fan-club.
Thus the formation of modern Russian community of RAGE fans began. After some time fan-club get another version of design and the new forum engine. The peak of popularity came in 2010.

In the spring of 2010 it was decided to transfer the official fan-club RAGE to another website located at http://www.rage-on.ru. Therefore Cyril’s website remains nameless again. However in March of 2011 the fan-club members selected a new name for the site: "The Missing Link". Along with the new name the design of the site was reworked again. Thanks to creative activities of the fans “The Missing Link” goes on.
Now the unofficial Russian RAGE fan-club “The Missing Link” is the most active RAGE-dedicated website in the Russian Internet. Everything related to the band RAGE is permanently discussed here, actual news are appearing regularly, RAGE lyrics translations (to Russian) are constantly developing  and the active communication is going on and on.
