В топике предлагаю обсудить творчество Яна Пэрри. Честное слово, он этого заслуживает!

Мне больше всего нравятся его работы с основной своей группой, а также участие во многих проектах, ну а особенно на дебютном Ayreon. А вот сольные работы мне не катят особо, только отдельные трэки можно выделить, а в целом достаточно занудно.

Последние работы Пэрри были так себе, поэтому от нового альбома я ничего особенного не жду.

Here is a track by track commentary by Ian Parry for his new solo album Visions:
1. Innocent Minds – This undisputed ground breaking gothic melodic metal opening song, is the start of a new genre for this charismatic vocalist. Ian unselfishly blends his classic rock voice with the talents of female vocalists, Judith Rijnveld (Consortium III) and newcomer vocalist/ top model Rosita Abbink. Quote Ian: “What better way to express the loving bond between a mother and child, then to feature the captivating voices of these two beautiful and talented female vocalists Judith and Rosita”.
2. Anything So Easily – A catchy no nonsense chorus line, followed by an open atmospheric drum theme performed by former Within Temptation drummer Ivar de Graaf. Its power is strengthened by a pounding heavy riff from guitarist and newcomer to Ian's solo camp Alfred 'the Beast' van der Zwam. It will grab the attention of any melodic metal fan. Quote Ian: “It's sometimes amazing how much we can achieve, by simply having the belief in our own abilities.
3. Fools Don't Cry – Based on Ian's own personal heart felt experience, 'Fools don't cry' is a compact 'single material' song, fuelled by a powerful metal riff from guitarist/keyboard player Joshua Dutrieux (Elegy/Consortium Project), the chorus is undoubtedly one of the catchiest melody lines found in rock metal in recent years. Quote Ian: “Having devoted my whole life to music, splitting with my former partner, was one of the most difficult moments I have ever faced. By expressing my feelings in a song, was the best way to deal with my situation.
4. The Angels – A chorus melody with a magical touch full of rich vocal choirs. A cleverly arranged atmospheric intro followed by a convincing heavy drum rhythm by Kamelot drummer Casey Grillo, skillfully blended open verse piano / choirs letting Ian tell us in his own special way a story of myth and fantasy. Quote Ian: “Picture an old lonely man, tired of life who is suddenly visited by angels giving him a miraculous power to heal all and help solve the problems of the world. Who could be believe such a tale, would you?”
5. Another Day (She Will Be Loved) – This classic ballad written and performed on guitar by Vanden Plas guitarist Stephan Lill, opens with clean guitars, an awe inspiring emotional vocal performance, exploding into a majestic anthem style chorus melody. Quote Ian: ”I based the song as a lyrical tribute around a friend of mine who recently lost a member of their family. What better and fitting way is there to say that they will never be forgotten.”
6. Fallin' – A combination of old school grunge and chunking metal guitars, much appreciated by younger fans who are discovering this style for the first time. Full of classic moments, clearly credit also has to go to Ian's passionate and convincing vocal performance. Quote Ian: “ It is quite amazing how we all deal with emotional moments in different ways, and how we deal with decisions and often mistakes made.
7. Smiley People – A progressive style song, more closer to Ian's musical background. A more progressive rock song, the verses are built around heavy power chords, sympho rock passages, followed by a very melodic vocal hook line in the choruses. Quote Ian: “A simple theme about the effect positive energy has on others”.
8. Slip Away – A new innovative ballad. Beginning with a mechanistic drum loop and skillfully blended futuristic keyboard sounds, Ian's melancholic vocal melody can only be described as simplistic brilliance. It's strength lying in the various instrumental elements embellishing each part. As the song drifts by, we can hear the precision and care taken capturing the imagination. Quote Ian: “A theme about holding on to your emotional past and learning how to let go”.
9. Lovin' A Stranger – An Arabian vocal melody in the beginning is embellished by a repeating Far eastern style hook line, combining old and new metal guitar riffs, catchy female vocal chorus lines in an energetic upbeat arrangement portraying the main theme of the album. Quote Ian: “The main flavour of the album is illustrated in this lyrical tale of two lovers facing their own personal dilemma coming from different cultural backgrounds.
10. No Mans Land – A simple but passionate piano and vocal theme, with emphasis towards not only a captivating lyric, but Ian's outstanding vocal delivery. Quote Ian: “The inspiration for my lyric and vocal melody is a culmination of years in the music travelling around living out of suitcases. During which time I have often found myself torn between the past, the present and the future.
11. Visions – The title track of the album begins with Judith vocal melody then flies off into a whirlwind of melodic mood swings, with the charming addition of a number of the musicians children's who have worked and performed on the album. A mesmerizing drum groove and guitar riff carries us to the end of what is undoubtedly Ian's best solo offering ever. Truly an undiscovered gem. Quote Ian: “It is of particular interest to me how the beautiful planet of ours is taken for granted, especially the children who are
